Prize Winning Poultry
Prize Winning Poultry
Elizabeth Anne had pretty poultry.
She crated them up and took them to the Iowa State Fair.
Where they won kudos and awards.
Elizabeth Anne was proud of her pretty, prize-winning poultry.
This is an old pin-back badge from what I believe is an antique pin from the Iowa State Fair. Which is a big deal, was then, is now, and probably always will be. The man I bought it from told me that he used to have some with pig heads, too, and that he believed that when you entered your animals you were given one of these pins to show what you were showing. I looooooved the cream with the black. It looks like a delicate toile to me.
Now this fancy fowl is adorned with old crystal rosary beads, and (really old, irregular, wonderful) mother of pearl rosary beads swagging underneath. Bunches of old black glass brass shanked buttons. Sterling filagree beads, rhinestone rings all attach to vintage brass chain. Old mother of pearl beads, black glass beads, rhinestone rings and an old celluloid crackerjack chicken charm bring up the back. The button is about 2 inches in diameter. It's about 17 1/2 to 20 1/2 inches long.
